Born in New Zealand in 1991, Pete (then aged 21) was the youngest 49er sailor at the 2012 London Olympics and won the Silver Medal together with Blair Tuke. At the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016, once again, Pete was the youngest ever 49er Olympic Gold Medal skipper. He and Blair Tuke won with two races to spare and by an overall 43 point margin. Pete, who was the skipper of the winning boat in the 2013 Red Bull Youth Americas Cup, joined Emirates Team New Zealand in 2014.
In 2017 at the age of 26 he got another record by being the youngest ever helmsman to win the America’s Cup. Soon after bringing back the Cup to New Zealand he jumped onboard Team Brunel for the 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race closing in 3rd position.
Pete took over as Skipper for the 36th America's Cup defence in Auckland, and continues that role for the 37th America's Cup Campaign, in Barcelona.
