Reliable and efficient mechanical systems are essential for the operation of our yacht. By creating more efficient systems, we achieve power savings that enable sailors to better trim the yacht. Any component failure could jeopardise a sailing day, whether it results in lost races or decreased training productivity. Additionally, our focus on continuous improvement ensures that designs will rapidly transition from computer screens to real-world testing and application on the water.

In this exciting role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing advanced machine learning models that can analyse vast amounts of data collected from both real world and simulator sailing, optimising performance and predicting outcomes. Communication with sailors to understand their decision-making processes and limitations will also be an important part of this role so sailing knowledge is an advantage but it can be learnt.

In this exciting position, the successful candidate will engage in various tasks, including the creation of autopilots for both for both our racing yachts and commercial powered foiling craft. In response to the aims of minimising fossil fuel consumption and enhancing sustainability, there is a growing demand for foiling boats across the maritime industry. In additional to the physical design of these components, excellent control systems are a requirement to fully leverage this technology.

As with many sports, our sailors want to train how they race to be as prepared as possible to defend the America's Cup in 2027. This includes the weather conditions in the simulator, such as the wind, waves and current. For example, compared to a generic wind field in the simulator, wind fields specific to Naples will provide opportunities to develop and test race strategies based on local wind features and variability.
