TWO BIG STEPS FORWARD FOR EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND
Emirates Team New Zealand reached match point after an exciting day of racing off Barceloneta Beach, packed with thousands of Kiwi and British fans, cheering their teams on.
The races, held in Barcelona's notoriously shifty wind conditions, tested the skill and adaptability of both teams. However, Emirates Team New Zealand rose to the challenge of being under pressure, following back to back losses to INEOS Britannia on Wednesday, outmanoeuvring their British rivals to claim two hard-fought wins in a nail-biting day of America's Cup action.
The scoreline sits at 6-2 in favour of Emirates Team New Zealand in the first to seven wins Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match.
Skipper Peter Burling was conscious that the job is not yet complete, although happy with where the team is at.
“It is awesome to get another couple of wins on the board and get it done today. It's obvious the is forecast looking pretty light for the weekend so I am really proud with the way the team executed today. Obviously, when you get a couple of losses it really puts us under pressure and the way we responded was awesome.”

Helmsman Nathan Outteridge was pleased how the team sailed that race in what were very tricky conditions
“It's a very different day here today, super dynamic it's a big hill upwind or us and you have this gust lull situation coming at the moment where one minute you have 8 knots and the next minute you got 13 or 14 and big shifts with it. So we were pretty switched on to what was going to happen there and i think it kinda caught everyone a bit off guard how dynamic that start got.
It was great to get off the line nicely above and then we were just trying to defend the right side there but 'm sure the next race is going to be pretty different.”

Skipper Peter Burling was loving the shifty conditions off Barcelona today, comparing them to a SW off Takapuna beach, “We were loving out there, it was completely different conditions to anything which raced in so far and it was great. So it was good to bounce back from a few mistakes the other day and put a couple of solid races on the board.”
