Brancott Estate backing Emirates Team New Zealand

Brancott Estate have today announced they will be supporting Emirates Team New Zealand in partnership for the 36th America’s Cup, with Brancott Estate signing a three-year agreement to be an exclusive supplier to the team until the end of the final race in 2021.

To commemorate the announcement of the partnership, Kevin Shoebridge, Blair Tuke and Tom Waterhouse from Emirates Team New Zealand were given an insight to the craft of winemaking with Brancott Estate’s chief winemaker, Patrick Materman with a view to co-create a special wine to help New Zealanders celebrate the defence of the America’s Cup.

Kevin Mapson, Managing Director, Pernod Ricard New Zealand says, “The teams behind Emirates Team New Zealand and Brancott Estate share our nation’s values – a can-do attitude, outstanding teamwork, accepting a challenge and striving for excellence.”

Mapson continues, “Brancott Estate cultivated a region considered too cold for grapes, planting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes in Marlborough and establishing a wine region that is recognised across the globe. Its history of ingenuity, innovation and sustainability has seen us grow to be one of New Zealand’s leading wine brands.  We look forward to using this partnership to promote New Zealand talent around the globe.

In a similar vein, Emirates Team New Zealand had its beginnings in the New Zealand Challenge team which contested the 1987 America’s Cup event in Fremantle. In an event dominated by technology and money, New Zealand punches well above its weight. Winning the ‘Auld Mug’ no less than three times, and in 2021 aim to defend their status as America’s Cup holders.

“Emirates Team New Zealand are delighted to have Brancott Estate as exclusive supplier to the team for our 36th America’s Cup campaign,” said Emirates Team New Zealand COO, Kevin Shoebridge. “We will be welcoming guests from around the world to New Zealand in 2021 and Brancott Estate will be right alongside us rolling out the welcome mat, putting on world renowned kiwi hospitality and sharing the finest taste of New Zealand with them all as we utilise their support and strive to defend the America’s Cup.”

With total belief and pride that New Zealand can take on the world, Brancott Estate will be looking for ways to enable fans to celebrate New Zealand’s champion team and the exciting milestones throughout the journey via its product range in on- and off-premise outlets all over the world, with a focus on the final challenge events in Auckland in 2021.
