It’s day 26 and the lessons continue

It can get lonely out there….

Day 26 of the 30 the America’s Cup rules allow Emirates Team New Zealand to sail the AC72 before next January 30,  We are out on the water of the Hauraki Gulf in a moderate south-westerly breeze.

After today, we have only four more sailing days. The team has learned a lot about the AC72 – from sailing it fast and safely, about the loads, and the limits. We will be learning right up until the last minute of the last sailing day.

In the afternoon Luna Rossa joins us from some more race training,  These practice sessions are valuable in more ways than one. As coach Rod Davis puts it succinctly “It’s the difference between hitting a tennis ball against the wall vs playing a real tennis match.”
