Back on the Hauraki Gulf – AC72 steps up
Emirates Team New Zealand’s AC72 is back on the Hauraki Gulf after 10 days in the shed for maintenance and modifications.
Designers and sailing crew were well satisfied with the conditions yesterday, a moderate to strong breeze. For a time in mid-afternoon the breeze was a steady 25 knots, comparable to conditions expected at San Francisco next year.
The team wants to sail on Friday – with forecasts only 50-50 that conditions will produce the wind range required.
